NAVIGATION FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED POWERED BY AI
We help the blind and the visually impaired to navigate the world, on demand and in-situ
We help the blind and the visually impaired to navigate the world, on demand and in-situ
A short video from NAVVI's creator to explain our purpose
There are approximately 285 million people who are visually impaired in the world
The current technology to aid blind people is ineffective or inaccessible:
Guide dogs are expensive and need to be trained to memorize routes, guide sticks only detect ground level objects, and sighted guides are hard to obtain.
To create a program using object detection and AI to navigate visually impaired people to their desired destination
Stage 1: Human Controlled Navigation: volunteers help collect video data using glasses depicted to the right
Stage 2: AI Controlled Navigation: AI will learn from the data to give directions by itself
Stage 3: AI Navigation is embedded into the glasses, allowing any visually impaired person to reach their destination guided by the directions of AI
